Silicon Navigator has developed the next generation of business models for partnering with its customers. To effectively address today's EDA market requires a range of options from source licensing to products with very simple scripting. Chip Design companies have a variety of needs, requirements, and internal CAD expertise. Silicon Navigator has developed three tiers of licensing models to serve our EDA customers.
Source Licensing Tier
This premier tier of licensing enables IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturer) type companies with large CAD groups to be involved at a level where they can share in the RDE Framework development and participate in directing its evolution. Source License Tier customers have access to RDE Framework source and can do software builds. Source provides these companies with a means to deeply integrate their internal and third party tools. Source Licensing Tier agreements can include licensing terms to protect the customers CAD investment.
API Licensing Tier
This tier of licensing enables CAD groups and EDA companies to develop and deploy EDA tools based on the RDE Framework and selected engines and editors from Silicon Navigator. API Partners can work at the C++, Python, and/or TCL levels. This partnership is intended for those groups that want to deploy an internal application with high performance needs in a timely and efficient manner. The available engines and the underlying RDE Framework provide the development environment for CAD teams to maximize their efforts. This licensing level provides the means to develop in standard languages like C++ and Python utilizing the extensions to the OpenAccess database. These capabilities are well beyond those compared to the languages and data access available in most commercial EDA tools. EDA vendors can purchase a resale option for delivering their RDE Framework based applications to their customers.
Product Licensing Tier
This tier of licensing is for customers who are focused on results. They want to purchase and deploy a solution with the ability to customize it for fine-tuning their design environment. These customers are typically buying bundles of functionality under a product umbrella. They see the benefit of standard scripting in TCL or Python with complete access to the GUI, graphics and database systems. The RDE translators for industry standards such as Verilog, SAIF, SDC, SLIB, LEF, DEF, SPEF, and CDL enable RDE Framework based solutions to be the customization hub of any flow. Silicon Navigator takes pride in our ability to integrate into customer flows.
Users of all licensing tiers gain access to the growing community of RDE users including internal CAD teams, design engineers, and EDA vendors. This community continues to grow along with the OpenAccess community sharing in the development, testing, and proliferation of products and standards to continually improve the productivity of semiconductor design and development teams.
