Silicon Navigator provides custom design solutions for OpenAccess based on its RDE Framework. schematic, layout, and PCell tools are all provided. Silicon Navigator's solution is compatible with the Cadence Design Systems' Composer and Virtuoso platform in order to provide interoperability with customer environments. This synergy allows Cadence production customers to leverage RDE for internal tool development and have tool interoperability. Customers producing data in Virtuoso can simply use OpenAccess databases in the RDE Framework while having the added capabilities of C++/Qt/OpenGL, Tcl/Tk, and Python/PyQt development options.

Layout Editor
Silicon Navigator provides a full polygon level editor for creating and editing layout including a full set of object creation commands with dynamic animation as you create, edit, and stretch objects. Full Undo/Redo capability is supported. The editor can create connectivity or polygon level layouts. Editing of PCells is also provided along with functionality such as stretch handles. See the PCells section below for more information. Full LSW (layer selection window) capability is provided along with satellite views and hierarchy descent and display control.

Mask Operations
RDE layout editor is equipped with two sets of mask operations performing AND, OR, XOR, ANDNOT, shrink, grow, cut and other operations. The first set of mask operations provides Manhattan only operations capable of processing the largest DSM chip level designs. High performance and capacity have been carefully developed. The second set of mask operations is targeted at analog layout and features operations on any-angle shapes, circles, doughnuts and other non-Manhattan shapes often found in layout. OpenAccess to/from operations are provided along with object to/from in memory versions for programming.

Schematics
Schematic pages stored in OpenAccess can be displayed, analyzed and cross-probed to layout data. Schematics created in RDE are stored in the OpenAccess database. Silicon Navigator also provides schematic generation capability in its digital products to visualize connectivity data which has no physical picture descriptions in the OpenAccess database. Additionally, symbols from SLIB (Synopsys symbol library) can be imported to the database.

Parameterized Cells (PCells)
Silicon Navigator has worked with Ciranova to enable usage of PyCells in the RDE Layout Editor. Support for stretch handles on PCell and other features enable efficient device level editing and wiring using the Silicon Navigator layout editor. Additionally Silicon Navigator supports Cadence PCells.

Large Capacity
The efficient implementation and the underlying OpenAccess database allow RDE to manage designs equivalent to over 14 gigabytes of GDS files providing efficient display and editing for today's DFM based designs.
